Start-up Idea

In the year 2016, Sonam Choden Bhutia started making handmade flowers and other handcrafted materials from corn husk under the brand Norlah. Since the opportunity was huge in the handicraft industry, she began teaching and training women in her village to make them self- dependent and have a source of income. In 2019, she started making natural dye flowers from corn husk. It was the first time that natural dye flowers were introduced in the north-eastern market. The entire dyeing process is handmade, and its natural colours and no artificial agents added to it.

Some of the achievements & recognitions of Norlah include:

  • Sikkim State Awardee from the honourable Governor and Chief Minister of Sikkim
  • Sikkim Indigenous Lepcha Tribal association
  • Sang Martam Jan SewaSangathan
  • Government college Rhenock
