Start-up Idea

Tag Along was started in the year 2017 with the eagerness and vision, to connect the community of homestay owners; guides; porters; vehicle owners; to a travel community who are on a lookout for genuine services.

It started "Ride the Silk", a cycling trip along the Silk route, to promote Sikkim as a cycling destination. For the past four years Ride the Silk has received an amazing response from cyclists across the country who travel to Sikkim.

Keeping in mind the needs of travellers who want to spend on experiences rather than stays they started Tag Along Backpackers, an affordable yet comfortable stay, in early Dec of 2017. They also started “The Travel Café” in 2018 with a vision to have a space that encourages interesting conversations and sharing of ideas not just between the travellers but also between locals and travellers over a cup of coffee and some tasty food.

Some of the achievements of Tag Along include:

Tag Along has been able to maintain a consistent review of 4.7 on Google for past three years which has been a testimony of our efforts on focusing our customer needs.

Tag Along has also been featured as one of the “First Backpacker hostel of Sikkim” in Tripoto.

Livemint covered Tag Along in an article “Meet Sikkim’s warriors for Sustainable Tourism” for its effort to promote cycling in Sikkim.

Team:

Tag Along is owned by sister duo Manisha and Bhavana. The team comprises of a young group of travellers-turned-entrepreneurs who understand and value travelling as an important way of learning.

After studying adventure tourism in New Zealand, Manisha returned to her hometown to work as a consultant. She worked on training trekking guides and later on moved to train homestay owners in the most rural parts of Sikkim. In a three years time Tag Along has grown to a seven-membered team who work across these verticals with a wide network of partners in the North East region.
